UEFA Champions League: Sergi Roberto to Make Barca Comeback
Injury-laden FC Barcelona are going head-to-head with SSC Napoli in UEFA Champions League (UCL) action tonight, Tuesday 12 March, and they may have an ace up their sleeve to pull off the win.
According to reports, Barca captain Sergi Roberto will be playing in tonight’s match at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in Naples, Italy, and that he could potentially feature alongside teammates Andreas Christensen and Ilkay Gundogan in the midfield.
Sidelined since January following a muscle injury, the 32-year-old Spaniard has apparently been medically cleared to participate in this UCL match. However, it is not clear if he will start immediately or only be called off the bench midway through the game.
Regardless, Roberto’s return will provide a big boost for the Spanish side (and lessen coach Xavi’s worries): major names such as Frenkie de Jong, Pedri and Gavi are all currently out with injuries.
Here’s hoping Roberto can lead his beleaguered team to victory over Naples tonight!
